I have bought a Sonicgear microphone. It gets recognized by my computer, but when I try to record using One Note, sounds from my internal mic are only recorded. I have an HP Pavilion Laptop and it comes with an IDT audio driver. I muted the Microphone, Integrated Microphone Array and Stereo Mix, and only left Master and external microphone on, but still only the internal microphone is being recorded. Is there any way to switch off my internal mic and keep only my external one on? I appreciate any help.
HP Pavillion dv6 P/ N: VM219 UA ABAModel: dv6-1350us Windows 7 (64-bit) I tried EVERYTHING so far but to no avail and I am getting really frustrated. Yesterday my microphone was working perfectly, and all week long I was using Skype to communicate with friends and family; I am working in China as of right now and it is the only method of communcation I have with them.  When the mic stopped working today, I searched frantically for an answer.  I tried Windows Diagnostics, downloaded the newest Windows updates, checked the forums, etc.  I can't figure it out!  Why so difficult? It's not Skype.  It's the microphone.  Windows does not recognize it on sound tests.  This all happened so suddenly, too. Please help.- Ian ‎ 05:42 AM Thanks very much for this solution and posting the video on youtube, I was very hesitant on opening the bezel but it proofed not to be very easy and pushing the connector immediately made by cam available again. ‎ 06:29 PM Thanks so much everyone for trying to help us get this fixed. Taking apart the cover did fix both the mic and the webcam. I tried all the software changes, updated the drivers and followed the threads and to believe that it was actually a physical failure. Thanks for your help Schwasted. One thing I wanted to add was that when I first got the laptop I noticed that there was a pinging sound whenever the screen moved. I now realize this was due to the wedcam and mic disconnecting and reconnecting. My notebook is the Pavilon dv7.‎ 10:11 PM hello all, I am have the solution for the webcam. The cord that connects it doesnt hold into the port well. You need to pop off the plastic that surrounds your screen at the top where the webcam is and to the right of the camera when looking directly at your screen you will see where it plugs in. just push it back in and it will work. Also know that it will keep coming loose and.
