This method of upgrading the Packet Wise software is a four-part process: Verify the Packet Shaper is running Bootloader version 7.0 or higher. Download the software image file from the Blue Coat download site to your client workstation. Note: You can skip this step if the image is already on your computer. FTP the file from your client workstation to the Packet Shaper. Load the new software image. Verify the Bootloader Version Starting with Packet Wise v8.6, Packet Shapers must be using Bootloader version 7.0 or higher. 1. Make sure your Packet Shaper is running Bootloader v7.0 or higher: Click the Setup tab. From the Choose Setup Page list, select image. The Bootloader Version is displayed on the Setup screen. show screen If your Packet Shaper has Bootloader v7.0 or higher, proceed to Download the Software Image. 2. If your bootloader version is not 7.0 or higher, you will need to update the bootloader using the plug-in that has been developed for this purpose. See Update the Bootloader for details. Download the Software Image You can download any software version from the Blue Coat download site. Make sure the image version is compatible with your Packet Shaper model. Be sure to read the Release Notes before loading a new Packet Wise version. 1. Go to the Blue Coat download site: 2. In the product list on the left, select Packet Shaper. 3. If prompted, enter your Blue Coat Support username and password. 4. Select Packet Shaper. 5. In the Packet Shaper release list, select the software version you want to download and follow the onscreen instructions. 6. Verify the file was downloaded successfully. Copy the Image to the Packet Shaper Use an FTP client to copy a Packet Wise image to your Packet Shaper data disk. 1. At the MS- DOS prompt, change to the directory containing the software image. 2. To open an FTP session to the unit, type: ftp.
